Jayden Badhesha made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Woodland Christian let Jordan Villanueva and Jandro Torres run wild. Villanueva went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base, while Torres went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Villanueva has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Tessier, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Woodland Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durham only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Menlo School sidestepped Las Lomas for a 2-0 victory.
Menlo School also got a great performance from Jackson Flanagan as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Menlo School's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Freehill, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Menlo School has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland Christian, their win bumped their record up to 27-6.
Woodland Christian skirted past Menlo School 3-2 when the teams last played back in June of 2024. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
