After a string of four wins, Marist's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Seaside Seagulls by a score of 46-43. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Seagulls are ranked 232nd).

Marist's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Seaside, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7.

Marist will challenge Cascade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cascade's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Seaside, they will be taking part in a tournament against North Marion at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
