After flying high against the Kennedy Eagles on Tuesday, The Apple Valley Eagles came back down to earth. Apple Valley fell to Jefferson 17-13. Apple Valley lost against Jefferson in their previous head to head two weeks ago, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 35-0 score last time.
Despite the loss, Apple Valley saw an underclassman step up: Q Barnslater picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Among those leading the charge was Jonathan Weber, who rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown.
Apple Valley's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.3 points per game. As for Jefferson, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Apple Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jefferson will take on St. Thomas Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Thomas Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
