The Buena Vista Longhorns waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 42-24 win over Comstock. That's another feather in the cap for Buena Vista, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Buena Vista found their leader in underclassman Sebastian Porras, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Porras hasn't dropped below two steals for 16 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Valdez, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Buena Vista has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Comstock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Buena Vista will head out on the road to take on Iraan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Iraan is on a five-game streak of home wins, Buena Vista a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Comstock will take on Rankin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
