It was a good run, but the Central Dauphin Rams unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Altoona. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Central Dauphin came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Altoona is ranked 161st).
Central Dauphin's loss came despite strong showings from Alexis Ferguson and Olivia Green. Ferguson scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Green scored six points along with 11 rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Syncere Matthews, who scored five points.
Central Dauphin's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1. As for Altoona, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Dauphin will square off against Central Dauphin East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Altoona will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cumberland Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
