The Kenesaw Blue Devils will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Franklin Flyers. Kenesaw will be strutting in after a win while Franklin will be coming in after a loss.
Kenesaw scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They really took it to Harvard for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-11 victory at home. That 46 points margin sets a new team best for Kenesaw this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kenesaw to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Kelley, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bentley Olson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Franklin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by Silver Lake 41-13. While losing is never fun, Franklin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Silver Lake is ranked 126th).
Franklin got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Allison Boettcher and
Macy Lennemann, who each put up three points.
Jordyn Falkenstine held things down on the boards with six rebounds.
Kenesaw now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Franklin, they bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Kenesaw have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.7 rebounds per game. Given Kenesaw's sizeable advantage in that area, Franklin will need to find a way to close that gap.
Kenesaw strolled past Franklin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 31-16. Will Kenesaw repeat their success, or does Franklin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
