Richland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Forest Hills Rangers. Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lanie Marshall, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Marshall is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Leyna Roman was another key player, going 6 for 15 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
Even though they lost, Richland was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest Hills only racked up nine assists.
Leading Forest Hills to victory were Morgan Gdula and Aivah Maul. Gdula dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Maul went 7 of 16 on her way to 19 points. Those 11 boards gave Gdula a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Myers, who scored seven points and ten rebounds.
Richland's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Forest Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Richland will square off against Clearfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clearfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Richland likes a good challenge. As for Forest Hills, they will challenge Philipsburg-Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Forest Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
