Baseball Recap: Kennesaw Mountain Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

While Kennesaw Mountain didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Lithia Springs Lions on Wednesday as the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs made off with a 15-4 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.

Daniel Fore looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, George Lutz and Isander Poventud did most of the damage at the plate: Lutz scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Poventud went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave Lutz a new career-high. Brady Caron was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Kennesaw Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Kennesaw Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Lithia Springs is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coming up, Kennesaw Mountain will face off against Rome at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. Kennesaw Mountain's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Rome's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lithia Springs, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lithia Springs Lions take on Alexander Cougars at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
