Given Westlake Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Mira Loma is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Westlake Charter to victory were Chigozie Igwegbe and Anthonia Nwaukoni. Igwegbe scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds, while Nwaukoni scored 9 points along with 14 rebounds. Igwegbe is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Westlake Charter's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Mira Loma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Westlake Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Vacaville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mira Loma, they will head out on the road to face off against Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
