Baseball Game Preview: Nipomo Titans vs. Paso Robles Bearcats

Nipomo is 0-5 against Paso Robles since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Titans will look to defend their home field against the Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. Nipomo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Paso Robles will be up against a hot Nipomo squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Titans blew past Orcutt Academy 12-2 on Thursday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Eli Silveira was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Nipomo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Logan Hobbs, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Nipomo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orcutt Academy only posted a batting average of .263.

Meanwhile, Paso Robles came into Thursday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Pioneer Valley a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bearcats have posted since March 1st.

Nipomo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Paso Robles, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-9.

Nipomo couldn't quite get it done against Paso Robles when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
