The Wheeler Warriors will head out to square off against the Landmark Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wheeler is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Wheeler came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to Berwick Academy. The Warriors have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Ben Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Jake Charlton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Wheeler's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 3-6-1 when he doesn't). Avery Johnson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Landmark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Pingree, falling 18-4.
Theo Masella was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Harry O'Connor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Landmark's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Wheeler, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wheeler has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Landmark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wheeler was able to grind out a solid victory over Landmark when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
