Arleta hasn't had much luck against Chavez recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will welcome the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Arleta will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Arleta is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Grant on Friday as they made off with a 10-3 win. The Mustangs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 5, 2025 (when they won 22-10).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chavez, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over Vaughn on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Ivan Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xavier Salas, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Joey Uribe was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Chavez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Chavez's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Arleta, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.
