Desert extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Frazier Mountain Falcons. That's two games in a row now that the Scorpions have lost by just one run.
Erick Cordova put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Brecken De Santis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for Frazier Mountain, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. The game was the first time they have beaten Desert on their field since April 19, 2022.
On Frazier Mountain's side, Aiden Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maurice Tondreau, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Saenz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double.
Desert wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-5 loss against Boron on the 24th. As for Frazier Mountain, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-0 defeat against Bishop Union on the 24th.
