On Wednesday, the Dunbar Crimson Tide faced the Jackson-Reed Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dunbar was beaten by Jackson-Reed 64-33. Dunbar has struggled against Jackson-Reed recently, as their game on Wednesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Crimson Tide players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gregory Lomax, who scored six points. Another player making a difference was D'Mitric Starke, who scored six points.
Dunbar's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Jackson-Reed, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Dunbar has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Suitland at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Suitland is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Jackson-Reed is on the road again on Saturday and play against Bowie at 8:00 p.m. on December 23rd. Bowie will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 71st in Maryland, while Jackson-Reed is ranked second in District of Columbia).
