The Great Oak Wolfpack will face off against the Temecula Valley Golden Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Great Oak is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let San Marino get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolfpack.
Roy Kim looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Great Oak's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-1 (and 8-15 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Fien, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Great Oak is 2-1 when Fien posts two or more runs, but 11-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sam Pink, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Temecula Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Swordsmen.
Chase Hilt was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Hilt was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Temecula Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.
Temecula Valley's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.5 runs across that stretch. As for Great Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 13-16.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Great Oak has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Temecula Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Great Oak's way against Temecula Valley in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Great Oak made off with a 13-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
