The Union Academy Cardinals''s six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They had just enough and edged South Stanly out 14-12. The win was just what Union Academy needed coming off of a 38-6 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Henry, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker St. clair, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Union Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for South Stanly, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Academy will square off against Mount Airy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Airy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 558 points over their last ten contests. South Stanly is on the road again on Friday and play against Bessemer City at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
