Baseball Recap: Exeter-West Greenwich Sets Scoring Season-High Against Times Squared Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Exeter-West Greenwich). They blew past the Times Squared Academy Eagles 18-1 on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights have beaten the Eagles the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Ethan Koczwanski and Dawson Sweet made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Koczwanski tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sweet struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Koczwanski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Koczwanski got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Sweet went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most stolen bases Koczwanski has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Lincoln, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Lincoln is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Cayden Landy also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Exeter-West Greenwich always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Times Squared Academy only posted an OBP of .222.

Exeter-West Greenwich's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Times Squared Academy, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
