Despite their defeat, Lincoln saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lailah Leonard-Roberts, who posted 14 points and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Monet Dunham, who scored five points along with eight boards and three steals.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pleasant Grove). They claimed a resounding 70-27 win over Cosumnes Oaks. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.
Lincoln better focus on containing Kate Myers and Lily Scarbrough as the pair were huge in Pleasant Grove's win. Myers went 7-for-12 on her way to 23 points in addition to six assists and four steals, while Scarbrough dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Scarbrough a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Anniyah Banks, who put up eight points.
Pleasant Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cosumnes Oaks only racked up five assists.
Pleasant Grove is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Lincoln, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 20-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lincoln has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.7 boards per game.
