Cathedral Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 11-6 in the process. Everything went their way against the Scripps Ranch Falcons as they made off with a 12-6 victory. The Dons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Levi Uslander tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Chris LeTourneau was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaden Kuhn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cathedral Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
As for Scripps Ranch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since March 21st.
On Scripps Ranch's side, they got a good showing from Christian Herrera, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Herrera gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last two games.
On the hitting side, Jesse Dawson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
Cathedral Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Scripps Ranch: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
