The Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 71-42 loss at the hands of Clearfield. Philipsburg-Osceola has not had much luck with Clearfield recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khendyl Sharrer, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Sharrer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Malinich, who scored 13 points.
Leading Clearfield to victory were Mia Helsel and Sonny Diehl. Helsel scored 23 points along with six rebounds, while Diehl dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. The matchup was Diehl's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Hannah Glunt was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists.
Philipsburg-Osceola's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Clearfield, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-5.
Philipsburg-Osceola will challenge Penns Valley Area at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Penns Valley Area is on a four-game streak of home losses, Philipsburg-Osceola a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Clearfield will take on Bellwood-Antis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
