The Waldron Mohawks lost against the Triton Central Tigers back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Waldron opened the new year with a less-than-successful 42-35 loss to Triton Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Waldron in their matchups with Triton Central: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Waldron lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lucas Shaw. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Fischer, who scored six points.
Triton Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Sego, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The match was Sego's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Silas Blair was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Waldron now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Triton Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Waldron will look to defend their home court on January 13th against Jac-Cen-Del at 7:30 p.m. Jac-Cen-Del is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Triton Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Morristown at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Morristown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
