Softball Recap: First Presbyterian Day Drops Season-High Score on Mount De Sales Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask First Presbyterian Day). They never let the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Lyric Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Addison Arnold was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Jessica Jones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

First Presbyterian Day hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount de Sales Academy struck out nine times.

First Presbyterian Day's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-3. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Presbyterian Day will head out to square off against Piedmont Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they will square off against John Milledge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
