Willow Canyon has gone a perfect 3-0 against Fairfax recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Willow Canyon Wildcats are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on the Fairfax Stampede at 3:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Willow Canyon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 victory over Chaparral on Tuesday. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Mataya Olson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Bella Mora also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Willow Canyon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaparral struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Fairfax put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against La Joya Community. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Stampede have posted since April 17, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Alexa Quiroz, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Quiroz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Jaslene Soberano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Willow Canyon pushed their record up to 2-3-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fairfax, their record now sits at 3-0.
Everything went Willow Canyon's way against Fairfax in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Willow Canyon made off with a 12-1 victory. Will Willow Canyon repeat their success, or does Fairfax have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
