Fremont and King/Drew are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Pathfinders will venture away from home to take on the Golden Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Fremont sitting on three straight victories and King/Drew on five.
Fremont is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Dorsey on Thursday as they made off with a 21-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Pathfinders, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Isaiah Velez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, James Harris was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jahdiel Roberts, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-5.
Fremont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, King/Drew beat Harbor Teacher 11-7 on Thursday.
Like Fremont, King/Drew also got a great game from a two-way player: Angel Chavez. Throwing, Chavez struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Hades Carranza pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Chavez scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Carranza scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Chavez a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damico Martin, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.5 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Lugo, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Fremont pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for King/Drew, their record is now 8-2.
