Southeast Halifax unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to North Edgecombe. Southeast Halifax found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 17 to 6 on offense.
Southeast Halifax's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Trayvese Silver, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Jayvion Demery who scored 15 points. Silver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.
Meanwhile, Northampton County came tearing into Wednesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 72-63 win over Roanoke Rapids. 72 seems to be a good number for Northampton County as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Northampton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jiyoun Williams led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Jamari Blake was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Southeast Halifax's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Northampton County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Southeast Halifax have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northampton County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
