Windward had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They walked away with a 64-52 victory over the Bakersfield Christian Eagles.

Despite the defeat, Bakersfield Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brielle Medrano went 9-for-21 en route to 23 points. The contest was Medrano's seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Jozlyn Garza was another key player, shooting 45% from the field on her way to 11 points and five boards.

Windward's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Bakersfield Christian, they moved to 11-3 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Windward wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-54 victory against Village Christian on the 3rd. As for Bakersfield Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on January 7th. The game will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season.
