The Grand Prairie Gophers can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They blew past Sam Houston 41-12 at home. The victory was just what Grand Prairie needed coming off of a 58-10 defeat in their prior game.
Kaleb Harris was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Stephan Pennington was another key contributor, rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Grand Prairie's win bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Sam Houston, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
Grand Prairie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sam Houston will be playing in front of their home fans against Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arlington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sam Houston in Texas (Arlington is ranked 350th, while Sam Houston is ranked 843rd).
