Basketball Game Preview: Mooresville Blue Devils vs. South Iredell Vikings

Mooresville is 9-1 against South Iredell since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mooresville Blue Devils will host the South Iredell Vikings at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Mooresville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Mooresville picked up another tournament win last Monday. They managed a 72-67 victory over Statesville. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dylan Clark continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, as he made all 7 shots he took to post 17 points in addition to eight boards and six blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Ericson, who posted 19 points.

Mooresville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, South Iredell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Hickory Ridge, falling 68-46.

South Iredell's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Mooresville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Mooresville against South Iredell in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured an 85-31 win. Will Mooresville repeat their success, or does South Iredell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
