The Susquenita Blackhawks won the last time they faced the Biglerville Canners, and things went their way on Monday too. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Susquenita made off with a 53-52 win over Biglerville.
Susquenita's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Allewelt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Allewelt has scored all season. Kaydon Brandt was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Biglerville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Claire Roberts, who scored 19 points along with five steals, and Kierney Weigle who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Weigle hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Hollabaugh, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Susquenita's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Biglerville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Susquenita's road trip will continue as they head out to face Line Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Line Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 559th, while Susquenita is ranked 236th). As for Biglerville, they will head out on the road to take on York County Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully York County Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Wednesday.
