After three games on the road, Cupertino is heading back home. The Cupertino Pioneers and the Live Oak Acorns will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cupertino comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Cupertino was beaten by Clovis East 57-15. While losing is never fun, Cupertino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 959th, while Clovis East is ranked 91st).
Meanwhile, Live Oak put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat James Lick 78-7 at home. Fans of Live Oak have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Kathliyah Clement continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 steals. Clement is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Cline, who scored 14 points along with 6 steals.
Cupertino's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Live Oak, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
Cupertino lost to Live Oak at home by a decisive 39-22 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Cupertino avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
