Marshall has gone a perfect 10-0 against Rosemead recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Marshall is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Marshall blew past Gabrielino 9-3. Marshall might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Nate Callaway was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other pitching news, Michael Gerst looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Trevor Lain was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Caleb Thatcher, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rosemead). Everything went their way against Mountain View on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
The team relied heavily on Logan Mojica, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Frank Weisbrod also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Rosemead hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Marshall's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Rosemead, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-11.
Marshall's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Rosemead, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Marshall continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Marshall's way against Rosemead in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Marshall made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
