Laney is 8-2 against West Brunswick since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Laney Buccaneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Brunswick Trojans at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Laney has six straight victories, West Brunswick has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Laney has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season. They really took it to Pender for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-40 victory at home.
Laney's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Avery Pruitt, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds, and Hezron Driver, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds. Driver hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Thurston, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, West Brunswick was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 54-49 to East Bladen.
Laney has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 6-0 record. As for West Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Laney was able to grind out a solid win over West Brunswick when the teams last played back in January, winning 75-63. Will Laney repeat their success, or does West Brunswick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
