Brea Olinda took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans on Tuesday. Brea Olinda has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Brea Olinda lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maya Sanborn. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanborn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alisha Choi, who scored seven points.
Villa Park found their leader in underclassman Bailey Roczey, who scored 15 points along with five steals and five blocks. Roczey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Sabina Patel was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Brea Olinda's loss dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Villa Park, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-10.
Brea Olinda will head out on the road to take on the Vanguards at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. El Modena has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 30. As for Villa Park, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m.
