Norwalk is 3-0 against Firebaugh since April of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Norwalk Lancers will look to defend their home court against the Firebaugh Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Norwalk suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 61-40 defeat at the hands of La Mirada. While losing is never fun, Norwalk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 936th, while La Mirada is ranked 425th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Keilani Ganancial, who scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 42.5% of Norwalk's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justine Abat, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 86-34, which was the final score in Firebaugh's tilt against Mayfair on Friday. Firebaugh has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Norwalk's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Firebaugh, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Norwalk against Firebaugh in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 71-28 win. Does Norwalk have another victory up their sleeve, or will Firebaugh turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
