The Azusa Aztecs will head out to challenge the Baldwin Park Braves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin Park took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Azusa, who comes in off a win.
Azusa barely beat Nogales the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Aztecs put the hurt on the Nobles with a sharp 10-4 victory on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Aztecs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Aidan Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Azusa got a big performance out of Anthony Rojas, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Azusa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 13 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Baldwin Park unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Duarte.
Julian Huerta was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Baldwin Park's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Azusa, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Azusa has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. However, it's not like Baldwin Park struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Azusa came up short against Baldwin Park when the teams last played last Tuesday, falling 9-6. Can the Aztecs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
