El Camino is 8-2 against South San Francisco since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Colts will welcome the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: El Camino has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while South San Francisco will arrive with three straight victories.
El Camino's last matchup with Menlo School could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The Colts lost 14-2 to the Knights.
El Camino saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael McCauley, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Ryan Bollentini was another, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, South San Francisco never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against Harker as they made off with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Emilio Oseguera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Keith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Bernal, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
South San Francisco hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.
South San Francisco's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for El Camino, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. El Camino has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South San Francisco struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
El Camino was able to grind out a solid win over South San Francisco in their previous meeting last Tuesday, winning 7-3. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
