The San Marcos Knights suffered their biggest defeat since December 23, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by Westview 65-37. While losing is never fun, San Marcos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while Westview is ranked 130th).
When it comes to explaining why San Marcos lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyra Quinn. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with three steals. Quinn has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christiana Samuel, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
San Marcos has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Marcos will take on Mission Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Westview, they will be playing at home against Del Norte at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Del Norte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
