Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Barstow). They took down the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights 59-40 on Wednesday. While the Aztecs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Miyanna Ruffin produced another solid effort putting up 21 points and four steals. Those 21 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Franco, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Academy for Academic Excellence's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chloe Freistroffer, who earned 17 points and eight rebounds, and Maya Menassera, who scored 14 points. Freistroffer is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reu Gustilo, who put up three points.

The victory made it two in a row for Barstow and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Barstow wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-41 defeat against Serrano on the 8th. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-22 loss against Silver Valley on the 5th.
