The Derry Trojans couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Charleroi on Friday.
Charleroi had a senior duo take command as Ella Sypolt scored 16 points and Camryn Musser scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Riley Jones, who scored 8 points.
Derry's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Charleroi, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Derry will take on Brashear at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Brashear focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Charleroi, they will face off against Monessen at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
