Even though the Sunny Hills Lancers have not done well against the Sonora Raiders recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Sunny Hills snuck past Sonora with a 50-45 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sunny Hills.
Leading Sunny Hills to victory were Erin Choi and Natalie Do. Choi scored 19 points along with three steals, while Do scored 24 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Do has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Parra, who scored five points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Sonora lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kiana Graham. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Samantha Wilson was another key contributor, scoring three points along with ten rebounds.
Sunny Hills has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Sonora, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunny Hills will take on Fullerton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fullerton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while Sunny Hills is ranked 167th). As for Sonora, they will play host again and welcome Buena Park, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Buena Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Sonora likes a good challenge.
