It was a good run, but the Washington Huskies unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Hayward. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Washington has scored all season.
Washington's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikaela Dumagan, who scored nine points along with six steals and five rebounds. Dumagan hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Yamaguchi, who scored 12 points.
Even though they lost, Washington were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Washington's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Hayward, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Washington will head out on the road to face off against Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hayward will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Encinal at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
