The result was nothing new for the Irish, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jack Livengood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Peoria Notre Dame let Lawson Alwan and Bryton Blackford run wild. Alwan went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one double, while Blackford went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Morton's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
