Morton has gone 8-2 against Peoria Notre Dame recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Potters will welcome the Irish at 4:15 p.m. Morton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.
Peoria Notre Dame's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Morton hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Potters' pitchers stepped up to hand Pekin a 6-0 shutout on Monday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Peoria Notre Dame). They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Urbana on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Irish, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jack Livengood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Peoria Notre Dame let Lawson Alwan and Bryton Blackford run wild. Alwan went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one double, while Blackford went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Blackford has posted over his last 12 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Mickels, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Peoria Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Morton's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
