Baseball Recap: Torres' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Torres had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Mendez on Wednesday. Everything went the Torres Toros' way against the Mendez Jaguars as the Torres Toros made off with a 17-0 win. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Toros this season.

Angel Tostado made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Jouse Solis Rojas was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Abraham Ramos, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Torres always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .540. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mendez only posted an OBP of .105.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Torres, bringing their record for this year to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mendez, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torres will challenge Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on March 28th. As for Mendez, they will face off against Hollywood at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. Mendez has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
