Basketball Recap: River Valley Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Nevada Union came into Friday's contest looking for another win against River Valley, but Avneeth Gill wouldn't allow it. The River Valley Falcons took down the Nevada Union Miners 48-31 on Friday thanks in part to Gill, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points along with seven boards and six assists. That's the most boards she has posted since back in February of 2024.

The team also got some help courtesy of Claudia Dudek, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Ban, who put up eight points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Sydney Tesene, who had four points and eight rebounds.

River Valley's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-10. As for Nevada Union, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley will head out to take on Twelve Bridges at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nevada Union, they will venture away from home to challenge Del Campo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nevada Union is facing Del Campo at the right time seeing as Del Campo is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
