Olympian has gone a perfect 4-0 against San Diego recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Olympian Eagles will square off against the San Diego Cavers at 4:00 p.m. Olympian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.3 runs per game this season.
Olympian picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over Kearny. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Komets: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Josh Rodriguez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Luis Mercado also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, San Diego had to endure a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Sweetwater 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cavers have posted since April 26, 2024.
Jeremiah Stepner made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Stepner was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, George Carabet looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Zavier Anderson was incredible, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Shun Shirayama was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
San Diego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sweetwater only posted an OBP of .400.
San Diego's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Olympian, their record now sits at 4-1-1.
Olympian took their win against San Diego in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 12-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Olympian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
