The Center Cougars lost against the Wheatland Pirates back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Center took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wheatland.
Despite the loss, Center still got an impressive performance from Miessah Sagun, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Madison Shirley Boudreaux was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds.
Wheatland found their leader in underclassman Michaela Davis, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reagan Clancy, who scored six points along with two steals.
Center's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Wheatland, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Center will head out on the road to take on Bear River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bear River presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Center in California (Bear River is ranked 285th, while Center is ranked 667th). As for Wheatland, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Colfax at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Colfax will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
