The Grants Pirates will face off against the Bernalillo Spartans at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Things were looking good for Grants after they put the first  points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They and Moriarty were almost perfectly matched up, but the Pirates suffered  a  13-12 defeat. The  game marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring  matchup so far this season.

 Despite the  loss, Grants saw an underclassman step up: freshman  Julian Fernandez rushed for 120 yards on only 11 carries. Those 120  rushing yards set a new season-high mark for  Fernandez.  Coudy Melonas made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
 Meanwhile,  after a string of three wins, Bernalillo's good fortune finally ran out  on Friday. They took a  blow against Bloomfield, falling  60-16. The Spartans were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
 Grants' defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Bernalillo, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
