After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Woodinville, the Cornerstone Christian Cougars were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They snuck past Columbia River with a 43-38 win.
Cornerstone Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mecca Alexander out in front who scored 14 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Alexander has scored at least 25% of Cornerstone Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Pamela-Joyce Allen, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Cornerstone Christian's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Columbia River, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Cornerstone Christian and Newberg will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Newberg is ranked 101st in Oregon, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 93rd in California). As for Columbia River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hudson's Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
