The Fort Calhoun Pioneers will take on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Calhoun is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will be up against a hot Fort Calhoun team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Pioneers' way against Highway 91 on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-2 win. Considering the Pioneers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayla Kratz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 contests.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dehlia Hallberg, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024. Madilyn Larrick was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Fort Calhoun hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder came up short against Cass on Tuesday and fell 10-6.
Arienne Summers and Rachel Purvis did some serious damage despite the final result: Summers went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Purvis went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Avah Ruwe, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Fort Calhoun, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fort Calhoun hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Logan View/Scribner-Snyder struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
