Palma had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Salinas Cowboys 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Chieftains, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Alan Gonzalez made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Gabe Serrano was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Johnny Carnazzo, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Palma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
